A thoughtful rest

I was just taking a "quiet time" in my room - lying on the bed, reading with the windows open, sun shining in. Eli climbed on to the bed, looked at me and asked, "Is God in your tummy?" I looked at him and asked him, "Is God in your tummy?" He replied, climbing over me, "NO! JEEsus is in my tummy!" I said, "really?" He paused on his knees, gesturing with his hands while tilting his head as he does quite frequently these days, "I don't know how he got there, but he just is."

Day with friends

Our summer is broken up in to three parts - June, "THE GRANDPARENTS", and august. we made the decision to not travel this summer so that we can journey back to Virginia in the Fall to see the leaves, as it's been 11 years since I've seen them.

so we have been exploiting all the offerings of SF and the the Bay area. so this page took place back in June. the children and I had planned a day in Golden Gate Park when we got a call from Naomi and Leon. They decided to join our adventure. We took a nice little hike through the woods and played in a field. Eli and Leon flew our little wooden gliders and played with sticks, while Eva, Naomi and I lounged on the grass.

Next we went to the Japanese Tea Garden, walked around the grounds searching for fish ponds, climbing over the bridge and ended by having tea. Eva, hands down, still refers to the cookies we got, the sesame and the almond!

Bi-Rite Creamery has come to town........

oh my goodness is this place good. Bi-Rite is a new creamery located near the grocery store with the same name - Bi-Rite.

http://biritecreamery.com/

it is amazing. the first time i tasted this ice cream was at a birthday party in an ice cream cake. it was a chocolate cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate shavings ALL over the cake. it was soooo good going down and then my belly hurt for a while. i ate leftovers the next day and the same thing. after my trip to the creamery i realized my portion was too big for this rich ice cream. we went with our friends on the last day of school. Isa and Felix had been several time (it was Isa's cake that tainted my first view of the place) and Avalon and Divo were new to the offerings. the line was long and worth the wait. the flavors we had were the mint chip, salted caramel, chocolate, honey lavender, roasted banana, chocolate cherry. oh my was it tasty. another reason for going here is the cool hiding placed in the architecture of the building. it was a hit!
